Hello & welcome to Studio Lowen
Welcome to the new home of Studio Lowen, I’m Lisa by the way… the designer-maker behind the brand.
So how did I get here?
I’ve been drawing, designing and making since I was little. It’s all I’ve ever really been passionate about, although I was good at academic subjects it never really captured my attention so I studied Art & Design at college.
After college I took some time out from education, I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do career wise and all I really wanted to do was travel and see the world, so I worked a variety of jobs and saved up to go travelling for 6 months.
When I returned home I applied to study Graphic Design at Falmouth. I spent three years at university and when I graduated I went to work in London, mainly interning at design agencies who focused on illustrative stylised packaging for fun and quirky brands. It was a lot of fun but I missed the sea and returned home to Cornwall.
I landed a job at Frugi, the chidlren’s clothing company back when it was really quite small. There were three of us in the marketing team at the time. I worked on packaging and trade marketing communications for a year or so before moving over to the product team. I then spent almost 5 years working my way up to Senior Designer creating characters, all over prints, garments and range planning the rather large collections.
In 2017 I needed a change and went into Interior Design, which was amazing but I really missed creating colourful characters and prints… the reoccurring theme of not being able to choose one creative pursuit!
Earlier in 2018 I decided to go freelance and start my own thing. I had no real plan, just hoped that I would find something that would pay the bills. Fortunately I’ve been able to work on some very exciting and diverse projects from developing new kidswear collections to rebrands, logos and packaging. It also enabled me to start Studio Lowen!
